I really love the Thankgiving Holiday for a lot of reasons. I love being with family and just staying in and spending the day together. I also love that it encourages me to stop and think about all the things I am thankful for and there are a lot that I don't think about as often as I should. So its great that Once a year its somewhat required. I also, of course, love the food!!! This year we celebrated here in Green River and my Aunt Trudie and Grandma Davis came.
Mom started cooking very early. The first thing in the oven was the pumpkin pie. I don't actually like it but its not Thanksgiving without it.
Grandma watched the parade on TV.
Then came the mashed potatoes. That was a little more eventful than we would have liked it to be. We peeled potatoes like crazy... and then put the skins down the disposal.
BAD IDEA!! It got very clogged up. So Mom got the plunger and started trying that.... all that did was make gross water come out of the part of the sick that is there for the dishwasher. So Aunt Trudie held a towel around it while Mom kept trying to plunge and still no luck.
Good thing my Daddy is Mr. Fix-It and he took care of it when he got home from work! Whew!
We got to use our nice china dishes for the feast!
Everything looked and smelled so good! We had turkey, green salad,
mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, rolls, stuffing, and cheesy veggies.
Finally we got to eat and it was just as amazing as I expected!
Even Dakota got to enjoy a little bit of turkey.
Derek and Tamika got back from Utah later that evening, and Connor came over,
so we played Scattergories, and ate pie and cobbler!
