Well, this weekend our honors program toko a cultural field trip to Denver. It started Friday morning. We left around 8:30 am. We were all pretty tired and really to catch some zzz's when we were told it was time to do a little "speed dating." We spent five minutes talking to each person on the bus getting to know each person. It wasnt too bad at first but 4 hours later when we got to Cheyenne and it was STILL going everyone was a little crabby. WE finally made it through and it surprisingly made the time go a whole lot faster.

When we got to Denver we went straight to the hotel where we had a couple hours to just rest before dinner and our first play. That was nice. Then we went to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. That was so delicious. Rissa and I both bought fruity drinks and got to keep the glasses :) They were also way way good. After dinner we went to see "Avenue Q" It was different from anything I've ever seen. There were a lot of funny parts and also a lot of things that made me think," wow did that honestly just happen?" but overall it was pretty good. We sat in the "nosebleed" section of the operahouse.

Saturday we woke up and went to the Denver Art Museum. To be honest I was not very excited for this part. I was pretty sure that 2 1/2 hours in the building was going to be torture. At the very beginning there was a big turtle statue that said "Climb on me!" so of course we did. We decided ot must have been just to get that urge out of our systems before we got to all of the expensive stuff that you can't touch. And trust me the urge was there.

We started on the 7th floor and I was instantly in awe. There were just so many different things and they were all so cool. We all had a lot of fun and didnt even get to see everything.

After the art museum we were free to spend a few hours exploring downtown Denver. We took the opportunity to shop at 16th street mall. Its basically a mall that is about 3 miles long! First we had to eat lunch though. We stopped at the first place we could find. This happened to be Jonny Rockets. It was a diner. The waiters all came out and danced so that was really fun.

After Lunch and shopping we had another (much needed) hour at the motel before dinner and another play. We ate at Villiage Inn. Then we went to the Vintage Theater to see "A Streetcar Named Desire" The theater was very small there were just 4 rows so everyone was very close to the stage. It was a very emotional, intense play and we felt like we were just sitting in the apartment it was taking place in. After the show the actors came out and we got to ask questions for a little while. They did a very good job and I enjoyed the play a lot. Finally we got back to the hotel really late.
This morning we got on the bus and slept. It was an uneventful ride (other than looking over to see the semidriver we were passing texting!) I had such a blast and can't wait to go back sometime.
